We are excited to host our GREAT Southeastern Harmony District gathering! Sounds like we have LOTS of quartets and choruses signed up, attendance looks good, and we’ll have several things happening over the weekend to float our collective barbershop boat. Here's some additional activities from Clay Hine:

Opening Night Party...at the Holiday Inn (HQ) hotel on March 20 at 7PM will feature at least 2 quartets: Gambit and Front Page News! This will be an “all-SHD Chapter Meeting” in conjunction with the Knoxville chapter and ANY folks who want to come be a part of the fun. We’ll sing a couple of songs (including songs that the all-voices mic-tester chorus will use on Saturday morning), hear some quartets, sing some tags, and wrap by 9 PM for a fun afterglow at the hotel. For those whose attendance at this would involve a hotel stay, the convention rates at the Holiday Inn would apply for this night as well. If you think you’ll attend and take part in the festivities, please fill out this form to let me know (just so we can get a rough count). And…if you have a quartet who is interested in singing a song or 2 at this event, let Clay know (clayhine@gmail.com).

All-Voice Mic Tester Chorus…will meet at 9 AM on Saturday morning on the stage at the contest venue to rehearse a bit before kicking off the contest at 10 AM. We will sing I Love You Truly and either What a Wonderful World or Heart of My Heart (depending on who knows what). Links to music and/or tracks for these are below:
I Love You Truly as sung by Brouhaha (Me, Tim Reynolds, David Calland, Kirk Young)…music and tracks are free and here
What a Wonderful World as sung by OC Times
Heart of My Heart as sung by most barbershoppers…including the Westminster Chorus!

ALL VOICES ARE WELCOME. If you’re at all interested in joining us, check out the music you might not know and come on by. Even if you can’t be there right at 9AM (maybe your chorus is also singing), and even if you’re not sure you know the tunes…come on by. Atlanta Vocal Project members will be participating, and in the spirit of the “Harmony” in “SHD”, we’d love to see LOTS of others come by to hang out and sing a bit (reminder - we’ll also sing thru these tunes at the Opening Night Party).

SHD Tag Contest
We already have a few submissions for original SHD tags ahead of the March 16 deadline! If you have a great tag idea smoldering, all you need to do is send to me: 1) music for the tag and 2) audio file of a group singing the tag (chorus, quartet, you doing your own 4 part recording, etc - and don’t worry about the quality - I just wanna know how it goes!). Send your tag and audio file to clayhine@gmail.com . The rules are: not too long (12 chords or less), needs to feature barbershop, and it needs to be original (ie, no copyrighted material)…and ideally, it is accessible to all SHD singers (ie, all 4 parts shouldn’t be singing contrabass or soprano 1!).And yeah - we have a couple of other fun activities planned, including an informal superlative contest that YOU can help judge and a “how much barbershop fun can you have in 1 weekend bingo card”. If it sounds like we’re packing a ton of fun into 1 weekend…then you’re onboard with the plan!

Hope to see you there!
